WOW SKI TOURS 2026

2026 ski season, here we come! It is difficult to even imagine the chill of a snowy ski day as I stand on the tarmac, heading for even more scorching Marrakech, under the scorching heat of a Rome morning in the middle of July. It’s only 11am but it’s already 34 degrees and it’s mayhem around me. There are people standing in aisles, children wailing and running around, prams everywhere and noise, noise, noise, noise. Between the Italians and the Moroccans, it’s a match made in hell. It’s not very Blighty I can tell you. All this brings me rather nicely to the new WoWSkiTours calendar which is out RIGHT NOW.

You might have thought that we’d be fanfaring and trumpeting our way through the mayhem that will be the Winter Olympics in Cortina this year.. You might have thought we’d be promoting and pummelling you with promises of Olympic events: stadium tickets, winning ceremonies, downhill events to name but a few.

The good news is that WE ARE NOT. We are fun, but we are not insane. To have to cope with the stress of hotels and inflated prices everywhere,  the parking, the crowds, the carabinieri, the thousands of extra people, let alone the 700 extra maestri di sci that have been cajoled into the Olympic Mania in Alta Badia alone, and that’s not even Cortina, coupled with the ENDLESS quantity of Olympic paraphernalia and utter tat, we have decided unequivocally to STAY AWAY from the entire shebang.

So!!

This is how our season is shaping up!

Our usual absolutely top-hole and spiffing WoWSkiTours Dolomites Spectacular ski tours will start this year with a kick off week in December. For regulars, you’ll know that our tours are pure ski pleasure, a fully guided sort of sightseeing on skis; you’ll never need to use a ski map.

You’ll cover many miles and slopes in an attempt to take in the very best of the Dolomiti sights, whether it’s the majestic ice wall and spectacular views through the Hidden Valley with the horse drawn ski tow at the bottom, the jaw dropping vista from the top of the Marmolada glacier back over the Sella Mountain group and over to Cortina, to Cortina itself, pre and post Olympics, or bombing down the 12 km descent La Longia’ at Santa Cristina.

We’ve noted, over the last few years, that the snow arrives early and December is a great time to visit. Hostelries and establishments are delighted to welcome their first guests of the season, prices are good, and the slopes are largely empty. It’s a great time too to find your ski legs if you’ve got other ski trips planned later in the year.

Due to hotel over bookings, we’ve got double weeks (this double groups) planned for a single week in January, so get your skates on if January is your only option.

Double, and even triple weeks feature heavily this season, largely due to accommodation and pricing restraints, but our season opens again in March.

Again, the snow is usually great, the weather warmer, and the Olympics OVER. There’ll still be all the hype and the advantages of new lifts and slopes and groovy bars and events, just not with thousands of people jostling for 1metre of turning space.

We’ve got our FISI qualified lady Maestri Di Sci with us again, on a new and much more clearly defined instruction programme, though essentially they are, like last year, with us all day to assist with any technical ski and performance issues. For style, drinks, lunches and general

banter and bad jokes, ask us at WoW!!

We’ve got our usual hotel, the wonderful 4* Antines, as well as the 3* Tama and the very beautiful Savoy, a 4* beauty right next to the lifts.

As usual , they offer divine half board dining options.

New for this year are FIVE weeks designated at a new venue in the delightful little town of NENDAZ in the famous 4 Valleys in the Swiss Alps.

Although the 4 Valleys are known for the terrain, glitz and prices of Verbier, NENDAZ offers all the same spectacular ski opportunities- same slopes and mountain, with half the expense and pretty much none of the pretence.

We have chosen to collaborate with SOMMET et Neige Ski School, known not only for their director, ski guru Jamie Kagan, but also for the excellent ski instructor training they provide through the PSIE ski formation pathway. We chose them, because they train us at WoW!!

Under the SOMMET et Neige umbrella, the WoW instructors will be using the Swiss base as an opportunity for some serious ski clinic training for those WoW Ladies who want to be technically instructed to IMPROVE their ski performance. We will deconstruct the skills required for effective skiing and each day will be divided into a differing focus with drills, exercises,

practice and video analysis.  Although you’ll ski A LOT, the emphasis will be on HOW you do it, and where and how you can improve.

The first three weeks take place at the end of January and are three different levels are planned; lower intermediate, upper intermediate, with the last week dedicated to marked and patrolled ‘yellow’  off piste itineraries. These could be anything from my hips to powder, depending on weather conditions.

The last 2 weeks take place in the peace of April, and are also MIXED weeks.

As in the Dolomites, we are offering half board options at the Mad Mount hotel, right next to the main Tracouet lift, and a Mad Mount retreat week for those fancying something a little more pampered.

Discounted ski hire is also available via the SOMMET et Neige Ski shop, which offers a range of fine tuned equipment.

Both WoW SkiTours and SOMMET et Neige Dolomiti and Swiss ski weeks offer airport transfers from both Venice airports ( Marco Polo or Treviso) and Geneva airports.
